Fire Investigators are searching for the cause of a fire in a vacant Capitol Heights house that injured two firefighters.  At about 6:30 pm, Wednesday, August17,  firefighters were alerted to a house fire in the 700 block of Brooke Road and arrived to find heavy fire conditions in the 2 story structure.  The fire had extended up into the attic area before being brought under control.

There were 46 firefighters and medics on the scene that took about 30 minutes to knock down the bulk of the fire.  Two firefighters sustained lacerations while battling the blaze and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.  It is anticipated they will be treated and released this evening.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and estimated fire loss is zero dollars as the structure had been vacant for some time..
