Television Documentary to Include Medic's Interview will Premiere Sunday Evening

A series of documentaries will premiere this Sunday, September 18, 2011, on the TV ONE Network that include appearances by members of the Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department (PGFD).

Will To Live” is a 10 episode documentary television series for TV ONE network by Executive Producer Robert Hughes’ LTT Productions based in Santa Monica, California.

The series tells the stories of real, life-champions from the African American community who underwent challenging ordeals, persevered and recovered their lives. Their stories are positive and inspirational.

Each episode relies on an interview with the incident survivor and a dramatic reenactment. The contributions of supporters - family and friends, paramedics, law enforcement, medical professionals, – all become an important part of understanding the determination and success of these amazing individuals.

Of the ten documentaries, there will be three episodes that include interviews with Prince George’s County Firefighter/Medics.  These interviews include the medic’s role in responding to and treating the injuries of the main subject of the show.  All interviews were provided with permission from the patient. The first show involving a PGFD medic will air this Sunday and two additional shows involving our medics will air later this season.

One of Sunday’s premieres shows will include the story of a woman being set on fire by her ex-husband at a store in Clinton, MD.  Yvette Cade survived being set on fire and her courageous recovery spanned 35 surgeries. She’s regained her family life and has become an internationally applauded spokeswoman for the cause of spousal abuse.  At that time in 2005, a rookie paramedic, Corey Smedely, was on-duty at the nearby Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Station #825 in Clinton, Maryland and was one of several rescuers that tended to Cade.  Smedley, now a Fire Fighter/Medic Major, was interviewed for this production.  You can see the original release about the interview and production by clicking here.
Yvette’s Cade story, “FIRE WITHIN” is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at 8:30 pm.  The TV ONE Network can be found on Verizon channel 271 and Comcast channel 59 and 865 (HD).  For additional information about the TV ONE Network, click here.
