National Day of Service
The American Red Cross-Prince George’s County Chapter will hold their Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service in the Town of Berwyn Heights on Monday, January 16, 2012. Participants in the National Day of Service will meet at the Town of Berwyn Heights Municipal Center. The address is 5700 Berwyn Road, Berwyn Heights, MD 20740.
Participants will enjoy a continental breakfast from 8:00 A.M. until 8:45 A.M. The American Red Cross will provide brief comments and have invited other civic and community leaders to speak and provide words of encouragement and motivation to the volunteer participants. Prince George's County Fire/EMS Chief Marc S. Bashoor will also provide comments as the task at hand includes distribution of emergency preparedness and fire safety information throughout the community of Berwyn Heights.

Let’s make Monday, January 16, 2012 a successful day on and not a day off!
“Reclaiming the Dream – Uniting the Community”
Another community event is being held in the Town of Capitol Heights. The Town of Capitol Heights will host a Community March to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
This event is titled “Reclaiming the Dream – Uniting the Community”. It has been organized to empower residents and provide information to the community. The march through the Town will feature faith based, business and community leaders including County Fire/EMS Chief Bashoor and other members of the Department. The march will end at the Capitol Heights Fire/EMS Station #805.
The march is call of action to community to both unite the Town and promote the principles of public safety, service and support to our neighborhoods. Please join us in for the day of service event and reclaim the community with the Town Council.
