Prince George's County Firefighter/Medics from the District Height area were alerted to a house fire this morning around 9:45. Fire/EMS units arrived at a 1-story single family home in the 2400 block of Kirtland Avenue with fire showing. Firefighters entered the burning home to extinguish the fire and perform a search of the house. The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes of arrival and all searches were negative with the exception of the family pet dog that unfortunately perished in the fire.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported. Two adults will be displaced and are being assisted by the County Citizen Services Unit. The cause/origin and fire loss estimates are not yet available.
