The co-presenters for this session are veteran public information officers (PIOs) with over 50 years of combined experience. They serve leadership positions representing two of the largest fire and EMS organizations on the East Coast. Both individuals have embraced the latest advances in information technology and are respected experts in the PIO Fire/EMS service community. As new media explodes, some of the basic principles upon which the discipline of PIOs is founded can help with assimilation of these technologies. It is timely to resurrect these core values and guiding principles and integrate them into professional practice. Numerous established practices with proven success can translate effectively with the new media.
