An excellent example of a public-private partnership working together for the community was
never more evident when a local contracting company stepped up and said, “We
want to help.” Representatives from the
Minkoff Company, Inc., a general contractor and property restoration specialist
in Beltsville, MD, were guests at a recent Fire Chief's Advisory Council Forum held in Beltsville. Minkoff officials offered to provide smoke alarms
and carbon monoxide detectors (co) detectors.
The Prince George's County Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department has a “Safety
First – Everyone Goes Home” program whereas County residents can call and have
a firefighter come to their home and install one or both of these life saving
devices, free of charge. The Department
is able to provide this free service through donations of the alarms and
detectors from outside sources. On
Friday, August 10, as promised, a Minkoff Company truck offloaded 250 smoke
alarms and 250 co detectors at the Departments Fire Services Building in Landover Hills.
“This donation will help us to save lives and protect
properties,” said Fire Chief Marc S. Bashoor, concluding, “Our Safety First program
would not be possible without the generous donations from companies such as
Minkoff.”
The volunteer, career and civilian men and women of the
Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department join Fire Chief Bashoor in
gratefully acknowledging this generous donation that will soon be put to work
protecting lives and property.
Corporations making previous contributions of smoke alarms
this past year include PEPCO, 1-800-BOARDUP, IAFF Local 1619 with co detectors
donated by KIDDE and FIRST ALERT.
To have a smoke alarm and/or carbon monoxide detector
installed in your home, free-of-charge- call our Safety First program at
