Prince George’s County Fire Investigators are currently looking into nine auto fires that have occurred over a 22-hour period. These fires started during early morning hours of Wednesday, October 24 and continued until Thursday at about 1:30 am with most occurring within the area of Kettering. Fire Investigators believe these incidents of arson and vandalism are linked and are seeking information from the public about who may be responsible.

10/25/12 0116hrs Abbotswood Ct/Kettering Dr, Kettering
10/25/12 0127hrs 11500 blk of Burning Tree Ct, Lake Arbor/Kettering
10/25/12 0132hrs 500 block of Etna Dr, Largo/Kettering
Residents are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911. Note a description of the suspicious activity including a description of any person and vehicle. A vehicle tag number is particularly helpful. Never place yourself in harms way.
Leave exterior lights on at night to illuminate the area in front of your house where vehicles are parked.
Fire Investigators are also reminding residents to help avoid becoming a victim by locking your vehicle when parked and removing all valuables.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call our Arson Hotline at 301-77-ARSON (27766). Tips may be left anonymously. Information can also be emailed to 77arson@co.pg.md.us.
Prince George’s County Fire Investigators and the County Police will be coordinating increased patrols in these areas.
