College Park Hazardous Device Incident

Early Friday morning, December 21, the Prince Georges County Fire/EMS Department's Bomb Squad investigated a hazardous device in College Park. As a precaution, a number of homes in the 5000 block of Edgewood Road were evacuated while personnel worked to mitigate the device.
The Bomb Squad was successful in rendering safe the hazardous device, however, the area remains an active crime scene and the investigation is on-going.

The County Police Department, City of Annapolis Bomb Squad, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) are on location to assist in the on-going investigation.
