A fire of an undetermined cause erupted in the basement laundry room of a Seat Pleasant home on Saturday afternoon. At around 2:40 pm, March 2, 2014, firefighters from the Seat Pleasant area responded to the single family home in the 6600 block of Valley Park Drive. Fire/EMS units arrived to find smoke showing with a working fire in the basement. Firefighters initiated extinguishment and a search of the home. All searches were negative and the fire was extinguished within 15 minutes of arrival.
No injuries were reported. 2 adults and 6 children will be displaced. The County Citizen Services Unit and the American Red Cross will be providing temporary shelter for the family.
The cause remains under investigation and fire loss is estimated at $50,000.
