Laurel House Remains Under Investigation





Firefighters from the Laurel-Beltsville area and surrounding communities worked together to extinguish a fire in a single family home. At about 9:45 AM, Wednesday, January 27, 2010, Fire/EMS units were alerted to a 911 report of a house fire at 13701 Virginia Manor Road in Laurel. Upon arrival they encountered a 1-story single family home with heavy fire and smoke coming from the front door and windows of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and searches for anyone inside were negative. One firefighter sustained minor burn injuries to his ear and was treated and released from the Burn Unit. No other injuries were reported. Fire Investigators from the Office of the Fire Marshal are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire which remains open and on-going. Preliminary estimate of fire loss is $40,000.
