Just after 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 12, 2010, firefighters responded to a house on fire at 41st Avenue and Bladensburg Road. The first arriving unit advised of a 2-story single family home with heavy fire showing. Suppression was initiated from the safety of the exterior, once knocked down firefighters entered the structure to complete search and extinguishment. Additional firefighters were summoned when the fire extended to the attic of the neighbors house.
It required 44 firefighters 30 minutes to knock down the bulk of the fire in both houses. No civilian or firefighter injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
