Prince George's County Firefighters are currently dealing with a fire at the Mall at Prince George's Plaza, 3500 East West Highway, in Hyattsville. An electrical transformer is burning inside of a shipping/receiving tunnel that runs underneath the mall. Smoke from the burning transformer is coming out of the tunnel entrance/exit which is located on the rear side of the mall.
The mall is being evacuated of all civilians.
The fire will not be able to be controlled until electrical power is terminated to the transformer. PEPCO has been requested and is en route. No injuries have been reported.
