A strong weather system passed through Prince George's County this evening.  This is just the first series of storms that are forecast through tonight and into tomorrow.  This storm system produced torrential rain and high winds.  Several Fire/EMS Department members witnessed funnel clouds forming in the Clinton and Camp Springs area, fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries or significant damage as a result of the Round 1 storms.

At about 6:45 pm all Fire/EMS units were ordered to return to their respective stations and stand-by as weather forecasts were predicting severe weather.  At about 7:15 pm all ambulances were diverted from transporting to Southern Maryland Hospital as a precaution to avoid driving into the storm.  As the storms passed, both precautionary orders were lifted.

Prince George;s County Fire Chief Marc S. Bashoor and Deputy Fire Chief Jerry LaMoria were positioned in the area of the storms as the storms passed.  Each were able to capture a portion of the storm.
