A Cheverly resident was found inside her burning apartment this afternoon and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Just before 4:00 pm Fire/EMS units were dispatched to 6321 Landover Road, a 3-story garden style apartment building in the Cheverly Station Apartment Complex. Initial 911 callers reported a smoke alarm sounding and smoke coming from her apartment.
First arriving firefighters located the fire in the apartment of origin and extinguished it. An adult female was located in the same apartment suffering from what appears to be critical burn injuries. She was unconscious, had no pulse and was not breathing.
The female was immediately transported to a nearby Trauma Center with CPR being administered.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not yet available.
Displacement of other building residents is probable.
