Investigators from the Office of the Fire Marshal and Bomb Squad are investigating a "pipe bomb" that caused minimal damage to a College Park home this morning. Fire Investigators and Bomb Squad Technicians are describing the explosive device as a "small" pipe bomb that exploded on the porch of a residence in the 8800 block of 48th Avenue in College Park just before 2:00 am, Tuesday, December 18th. Minimal damage was reported and there were no injuries.
There are no motives or suspects. The investigation is open and on-going with no additional information that can be provided at this time. Details about the pipe bomb, home occupants and location can not be released as this remains an active investigation.
The Bomb Squad is a function of the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department.
