Officer Candidate School Concludes

An Officer Candidate School (OCS) concluded on Friday, December 14, 2012 with Fire Chief Marc S. Bashoor and members of his command staff attending and presenting Certificate of Achievements. Twenty-nine members received their certificates after successfully completing the 2-week class.

This was the first OCS the Department has held in six years. The re-institution of an OCS was one of Chief Bashoor's goals when he returned as Fire Chief 2 years ago. Fire Chief Bashoor acknowledged Dr. Sylvia Franklin, Office of Human Resources, and her staff for course development and instructional material which included an on-line component. Bashoor also thanked the staff at the Fire/EMS Training Academy for conducting the class.

In addition to the staff from the Fire/EMS Training Academy and Dr. Sylvia Franklin Assistant Fire Chief Alicia Francis, Deputy Fire Chiefs Barksdale, Underwood and Hoglander attended the ceremony.
