Prince George’s County Fire Investigators continue to search for the cause of a fire at a Bowie home where an occupant was rescued by firefighters. Fire/EMS units were alerted to a house fire with a person trapped in the 1800 block of Price Lane just before 8:00 pm on Saturday, February 2. Firefighters arrived to find a 1-story single family home with a fire in the attached garage with extension into the house and attic.

A neighbor met firefighters in the front yard and told them that a female occupant was trapped in her bedroom and provided the exact location of that room. As one crew of firefighters worked to extinguish the fire another crew searched the house for the occupant. A female occupant, in her 40’s, was unable to escape due to the intense heat and thick smoke and was quickly located by firefighters. She was removed out of the bedroom window and treated by paramedics on the scene. She was soon transported to an area hospital for treatment of a laceration and possible smoke inhalation.

Fire Investigators believe the fire started in the garage and continue to search for the cause of the fire. Fire loss is estimated at $50,000.
