Smoke rises from the second floor of house on Prospect Pl.  The fire was set and a suspect is in custody charged with Arson.

A Glenn Dale man has been charged with several crimes after he is believed to have set multiple fires in a house.  At 10:45 am, Thursday, May 1, 2014, Prince George’s County Firefighters were alerted to a house fire in the 11500 block of Prospect Place in Glenn Dale.  The dispatch information included Deputy Sheriffs were on location attempting to serve a court ordered eviction.  A barricade situation developed with at least one shot fired.  Just minutes later and before the firefighter’s arrival updated information provided by Public Safety Communications Dispatchers indicated the suspect was out of the house, in custody, and the scene was secure for firefighters.

Firefighters arrived to find a 2-story single family home with fire showing from the 2nd floor.  The fire was quickly contained and extinguished without any further incident.

Medics treated the adult male suspect for minor injuries and he was transported, with Law Enforcement officials, to a local hospital for treatment.

Fire Investigators from the Prince George’s County Office of the Fire Marshal and Deputy Sheriffs conducted a joint investigation.  Fire Investigators determined that the suspect set multiple fires in the residence using an accelerant.  The cause of the fire has been classified as “Incendiary” with $80,000 in estimated fire loss.

Fire Investigators obtained a warrant for David Clarence Coley, 53 years-of-age of Glenn Dale, charging him with:

Arson – 1st Degree – Felony – maximum penalty if found guilty is 30 years in jail.
