The Fire/EMS Department is seeking a highly qualified applicant to fill a Supply Technician position, grade H16 in the Apparatus Maintenance Division.
 
This is para-professional level work in the administrative management of the Supply Services Unit, performed in support of the Supply Manager.  The incumbent is responsible for performing procurement and materials management for the Fire/EMS Department.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures, loud noise, dust and fumes.  Also, work in this class includes physical activities such as repeated bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.  This position is designated "Essential" and may be required to report to work during natural and manmade disasters and during special operations as assigned.  Essential employees are expected to report to work or remain at work when other County employees are granted administrative leave.

 
 Examples of Work:
The incumbent supplies repair shops with materials/supplies as needed; verifies and makes necessary records of parts; processes all repair orders to insure proper charging on invoices; independently researches, locates and orders Fire/Rescue Apparatus repair parts for all apparatus maintained within the garage; searches original equipment manufacturer's (OEM) catalogs, after market parts interchange books and local vendors to locate non-inventory items; orders routine items from the County Inventory System; arranges for field purchase orders for items purchased from non-contract vendors; responsible for supplying all non-inventory items and supplies used; maintains perpetual inventory of parts and supplies; establishes minimum/maximum, standby and seasonal stock levels; reviews inventory turnover and adjusts pricing of parts to achieve maximum economy for the users and the County; conducts monthly physical inventory reconciling all shortages and/or averages; gives verbal and written reports to the Garage Supervisor concerning inventory, quality of parts and vendor problems; handles complaints, and makes exchanges and adjustments with suppliers as authorized by the Garage Supervisor; observes all administrative rules and regulations and follows all County and industry safety standards.
 Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent,  plus three (3) years of work experience in the supply/property/materials management operations with at least two (2) years at the lead/supervisory level, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Additional Information:
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Applicants must:

1. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
2. Pass a thorough background investigation.
3. Pass a drug screen.
4. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
 
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligibles, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date.  Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
