Prince George's County Fire Investigators are working with Police after an unconscious man was found inside a commercial establishment after a fire was extinguished. At around 10:30 pm, Friday, April 8, 2011, firefighters arrived at a 1-story commercial store in the 5400 hundred block of Annapolis Road in Bladensburg, with heavy smoke coming from the store. A fire was extinguished and a male, approximately 70 years of age, was located inside. A quick assessment found the man to be without a pulse and non-breathing and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Fire and Police Investigators have initiated an investigation into the circumstances of this incident. Officially, the cause and origin is under investigation and fire loss estimates are not yet available.
The Police Department will be handling the release of all additional information.
