Firefighters from Glenn Dale and surrounding stations were alerted to a house fire in the 12600 block of Hillmeade Station Drive this evening shortly after 6:00 pm. The house was reported to be vacant.
Fire/EMS units arrived within minutes and encountered heavy smoke and fire showing from the 1 1/2-story single family home. A partial collapse on the first floor occurred. As a result, one fire fighter was injured when he fell through the hole in the floor. The fire fighter was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.
.It required about 40 minutes to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and fire loss is still being tabulated at this time.
