Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s District II Investigative Section has arrested Deanthony Nathan Bagley, 23, of the 600 block of 64th Avenue in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, in connection with the arson and attempted murder of a family yesterday morning in Lanham, Maryland.
Bagley has been charged with five counts of attempted 1st degree murder, one count of 1st degree assault, five counts of 1st degree arson, and one count of 2nd degree arson. He is currently remanded to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections and is being held on a no-bond status.
On August 9, 2011, at approximately 5:55 a.m., patrol officers along with Prince George’s County Fire/EMS personnel responded to the 5500 block of Lanham Station Road for a report of a house fire involving a cutting. Upon arrival, Fire/EMS personnel extinguished the fire located in the second story of the home. A 32 year old male resident of the home was located on scene suffering from minor injuries as the result of an assault and five additional family members were able to escape the home uninjured. The 32 year old victim was treated on the scene for minor injuries and released.
Investigators learned that Deanthony Bagley, the half brother of one of the family members, had broken into the residence and poured a flammable liquid throughout the house while the family was sleeping. The 32 year old victim awoke to what appeared to be a “Molotov Cocktail” being thrown to the second level of the home, igniting in flames. The victim encountered Bagley in the home and a struggled ensued during which time Bagley produced a knife and cut the victim. During the struggle, a female resident of the home struck Bagley with an object causing him to flee the residence. Bagley was located a short time later at Prince George’s Hospital where he was arrested and charged accordingly after being treated for a minor injury.
