Firefighters from Glenn Dale and other nearby communities arrived on the scene of a community pool house with heavy fire coming through the roof this afternoon. Fire/EMS units arrived at the 1-story structure at about 3:30 pm on River Glen Court in the Glensford Community in the Bowie/Glenn Dale area. It required 32 firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire that burned off about 50% of the roof.
The Fire/EMS Departments Hazardous Materials Team was brought to the scene to secure commonly used pool chemicals that were not involved in the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Dollar loss estimates are not yet available. There were no injuries.
