Technical Rescue in Laurel

At around 9:45 this morning, fire and Emergency Medical Services units from the Laurel and surrounding areas were alerted to a report of a male who had fallen into a trench.

Firefighters and Paramedics arrived at 10100 Canadian Way and found a male, in his 30's who had fallen approximately 20 feet into a concrete trench.  Fire/EMS technical rescue units were dispatched to assist with the extrication, along with a State Police helicopter.

It took about 28 personnel nearly an hour to extricate the patient from the trench.  The patient was transported via helicopter to a nearby trauma center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
