The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a double homicide in New Carrollton.  A suspect is in custody.  He’s identified as 44 year-old Anthony Andre Allain of the 7600 block of Fontainbleau Drive in New Carrollton.   He will be charged with two counts of felony murder and first degree arson.

Anthony Andre Allain

On January 13, 2013, at approximately 7:45 pm, police officers were called to 7600 Fontainbleau Drive after a witness called 911 stating the suspect barricaded himself and others inside the apartment and started a fire.  Once on scene, police officers found a female victim with serious injuries on the ground outside the building. It’s believed she jumped to escape the flames.  She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The medical examiner today ruled she died of internal injuries from the fall.  Firefighters discovered the body of a male victim inside the apartment.  The medical examiner ruled he died from injuries sustained in the fire.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect climbed down from the third story balcony of the burning apartment and fled.  Police officers found Allain hiding in the basement of a nearby apartment building with non-life threatening burns.

Allain is in a local hospital.  The murder and arson charges are pending his extradition to Prince George’s County from Washington, DC.

Homicide detectives are working to confirm the victims’ identification.

The Prince George’s County Fire Department is conducting its own investigation into the fire.
