At about 6:45 pm, Sunday, April 7, Prince George's and Montgomery County Firefighters responded to a reported house fire in the 3100 block of Buck Lodge Road in Adelphi.  Fire/EMS units arrived to find a 2-story single family home with heavy fire consuming an attached garage, with vehicle inside, with fire extending into the second floor and attic of the structure.  There were about 50 firefighters and paramedics on the scene.  It required about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

A family of four will be displaced and are being assisted by the County Citizen Services Unit and the American Red Cross.  An adult female resident sustained 2nd degree burns to the bottom of her feet and was transported by ambulance to the Burn Unit.  She is in "good" condition.

The fire appears to have started in the area of the garage.  Radiant heat from the structure fire damaged a boat parked in the driveway and melted siding on the neighbors house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and a preliminary fire loss is estimated at $200.000.
