Busy Afternoon...

The Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department handled several significant incidents during a 2-hour period this afternoon.  This activity was in addition to the day-to-day incidents that we respond to.  Personnel on the 3-Alarm fire in Montgomery County and the Haz-Mat Team on the Beltway continue to work.

Around 4:00 pm – several units were alerted to an apartment building fire in Montgomery County.  Nearly 40 firefighters on-board eight pieces of firefighting apparatus along with several command officers and support staff assisted at the fire in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.  One firefighter was treated for a minor illness.  Contact Montgomery County Fire PIO for additional info.

Just before 5:00 pm a motor vehicle crash occurred involving an overturned tractor-trailer.  Fire/EMS and haz-mat units responded to the Outer Loop of the Beltway in the area of Arena Drive in Landover.  At least 3 lanes of traffic are closed as units clean up a diesel fuel spill.  Contact the Maryland State Police – Forestville for additional information.

Just after 5:30 pm a teen-aged male walked into the Calverton Fire/EMS Station #841 on Powder Mill in Beltsville.  The male was suffering from multiple stab wounds.  Paramedics initiated treatment and transported him to a Trauma Center.  His injuries are serious but do not appear to be life threatening.  Contact the County Police for additional information.

At around 6:00 pm Fire/EMS units operated at the scene of a motor vehicle crash at Indian Head Highway and Berry Road in Accokeek.  The crash involved an overturned vehicle with one occupant sustaining a traumatic injury to his upper arm.  A Maryland State Police Helicopter flew him to a Trauma Center.  Contact the Maryland State Police for additional information.
