Challenging teams of everyday people to build homemade human-powered flying machines and pilot them off a 30-foot high deck in hopes of flight, Red Bull Flugtag takes place more than 100 times around the world. Now, this one-of-a-kind competition is landing in DC for the first time ever on Saturday, September 21 at National Harbor, MD, and LivingSocial is the exclusive ticket provider.
Flugtag might mean "flying day" in German, but all these crafts ultimately splash into the waters below. Red Bull Flugtag flying machines range from realistic plane replicas to anything the imagination can conjure up. Past crafts include a Flying Purple People Eater, Santa and his sleigh, a flying toilet, and even a flying cheeseburger. Teams are judged not only on their flight's distance, but creativity and showmanship as well. To gain more showmanship points, participants often wear outrageous costumes, act out skits, and create their own music soundtracks for the flight.
National Red Bull Flugtag will take place on the Southpointe area adjacent to the Gaylord Hotel & Convention Center. Gates open at noon, inviting spectators to meet the teams and get a close-up view of the homemade crafts before the first flight departs at 2 p.m.
Choose from the following offers:
• $15 for one GA ticket
• $50 for four GA tickets
• $80 for one VIP ticket with premium viewing, food, and drink
