Man Sustains Burn Injuries - College Park

A male in his early 20's was pulled from a porta-potty that was well involved with fire this morning.
At about 7:00 am a Maryland State Trooper saw the fire and using the portable fire extinguishers from his cruiser knocked down enough fire to pull out the critically injured male.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived shortly thereafter at the Sunnyside Neighborhood Park in the 10100 block of Rhode Island Avenue in College Park and extinguished what was left of the burning material and treated the patient. The park shares the same service road as the Maryland State Police (MSP) Barracks.

Paramedics treated the man on the scene for burn injuries. A MSP meda-vac helicopter flew the patient to a Burn Unit in Critical Condition with life threatening burn injuries.

Prince George's County Fire Investigators and the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) Police Department are investigating the incident.

A possible suicide attempt has not been ruled out, however, the investigation is on-going.
