Acting Fire Fighter/Medic Lieutenant Kristofer V. Demattia graduated Saturday, June 21, from the Northern Virginia Fire/Rescue Leadership Development Institute. This was the second year for the program, and the first opportunity for an applicant from outside of Northern Virginia.

The opportunity for PGFD was presented when Prince George's County Fire Chief Marc S. Bashoor agreed to teach a Crisis Leadership program to the 47 member class. The program is one of several that Chief Bashoor is evaluating for potential implementation for both career and volunteer leadership development.
The NOVA LDI is unique, in that the entire class is sequestered for an entire week, housed at the Fairfax campus of George Mason University. This was a challenging leadership training environment for young and/or aspiring officers who, in many cases, had not been sequestered for class before.
Acting Lieutenant Demattia is excited to put his new knowledge to work with his crew at the Riverdale Heights Fire/EMS Station 813. Chief Bashoor attended the graduation ceremony congratulating Demattia on his successful completion of the program.
