Investigators assigned to the Office of the Fire Marshal are
currently investigating two Temple Hill fires that occurred during Sunday
morning. The fires occurred at a duplex
in the 3100 block of 28th Parkway almost 6 ½ hours apart.
The first incident occurred just before 1:00 am at 3114 28th
Parkway. Firefighters arrived to find a
fire that appears to have started on a rear porch and extended inside the
structure. It required about 15 minutes
to extinguish the fire. A total of 3
adults and 5 children were displaced from the home at 3114 and the attached
home at 3112. The cause of the fire is
listed as undetermined with fire loss estimated at $50,000.
The second incident occurred about 6 ½ hours later at about
7:30 am. Firefighters arrived at 3112 28th
Parkway, which is the attached duplex home from the earlier fire. A fire appears to have started on the rear
porch and extended into the structure.
It required about 10 minutes to extinguish the fire. No one was home as the occupants were displaced
from the earlier fire. A cause and
origin investigation is currently underway by the Department’s Office of the
Fire Marshal. Fire loss estimates are not yet available.
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported at either
incident. A complete and through
investigation will be conducted at each incident. No conclusions at this time if the incidents
are related and possible cause. As
additional information is developed an updated release will be posted.
UPDATE - September 5, 2016 - Fire Investigators concluded the 7:30 am fire at 3112 28th Parkway was a result of a rekindle from the earlier fire. Fire loss is estimated at $35,000. The first fire at 3314 28th Parkway remains undetermined.
