Body Discovered during Fire; Joint Fire and Police Investigation Underway

At 11:25 a.m. on Thursday April 30th, crews from the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department were dispatched to the 3700 block of Branch Avenue in Temple Hills for a reported structure fire. A 9-1-1 caller reported smoke coming from the bottom level of a parking structure adjacent to Iverson Mall. Firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished a fire in a storage space underneath the first floor ramp. During a search of the scene, firefighters discovered the body of an adult male.  An autopsy will determine cause and manner of death.  Fire Investigators were called to the scene are working to determine cause and origin of the fire.  Our investigators are working with Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Detectives to identify the individual and to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.  Fire damage to property is estimated at $1,000.
