It required about 15 minutes to extricate the adult male driver from his SUV. He was transported to a nearby Trauma Center with serious non-life threatening injuries.
Of the 15 children inside the van; 6 required medical attention and were transported to various area hospitals with non-serious injuries by ambulances. The remaining 9 children and 3 adults; 1 van driver and 2 aides, were transported to an area hospital for a check-up and to re-unite with their parents, these patients were transported on-board the Fire/EMS Department Ambulance Bus. The children ranged in age from 6 up to 11 and were both male and female. None of the injuries were considered serious.
The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating the crash.
