Fire Investigators Seek Tips in Automobile Arsons – New Incidents Bring Total to Sixteen

Prince George’s County Fire Investigators are currently looking into sixteen auto fires that have occurred over the past week. These fires occurred during early morning hours of Wednesday, October 24; Thursday, October 25; Sunday, October 28 and Monday, October 29. Fire Investigators believe these incidents of arson and vandalism are linked and are seeking information from the public about who may be responsible.

Residents are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911. Note a description of the suspicious activity including a description of any person and vehicle. A vehicle tag number is particularly helpful. Never place yourself in harms way.

Leave exterior lights on at night to illuminate the area in front of your house where vehicles are parked.

Fire Investigators are also reminding residents to help avoid becoming a victim by locking your vehicle when parked and removing all valuables.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call our Arson Tip Line at 301-77-ARSON (27766).  Tips may be left anonymously.  Information can also be emailed to 77arson@co.pg.md.us.
